ABOUT US

The Meghan Torno School serves to encourage, inspire, and motivate students to dance and be the best they can be. Our philosophy is to teach in a friendly and positive way increasing each dancer’s self-confidence. We encourage communication between the students, parents, and teaching staff. Our ultimate goal is to provide a learning atmosphere that is healthy and fun. We strive to instill a sense of belonging, friendships, school spirit, and confidence in each and every student.  A primary concern of the Meghan Torno teaching staff is to maintain a comfortable class size so that your dancer receives the attention he/she deserves in a family-like atmosphere. In addition to classes, Meghan Torno students are invited to participate in such fun activities as the St. Patrick's Day parades, performances, competitions, festivals, and even TV appearances! We are proud to pass along our love of Irish dancing to children from all backgrounds; thus, children do not have to be Irish to participate!

"Sending our daughter to Meghan Torno School of Irish Dance was one of the best decisions we have ever made. Our daughter has grown so much personally when it comes to confidence and drive but has also learned to work as part of a team all while having fun doing something she loves so much! We absolutely adore all of the teachers and we are so happy to have them as role models for our daughter."

INSTRUCTORS

MEET MEGHAN

Meghan Torno, TCRG/ADCRG, the owner/director and principal instructor of the Meghan Torno School, is second-generation Irish and grew up in a family surrounded by Irish music and dance. She started Irish dancing at age 3 and quickly moved up the competition ranks, reaching the Open Championship level in her early teens. Meghan traveled extensively throughout her competitive years, retiring from the competitive world while attending St. Louis University. She still continued performing throughout her college years, having performed with various well-known Irish groups that include The Chieftains, Boys of the Lough, Johnny McEvoy, Frank Patterson, Cherish the Ladies, Eileen Ivers, and Natalie MacMaster. In May of 2005, Meghan graduated from St. Louis University with a Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Medicine Technology. Along with being a certified Irish dance teacher and adjudicator, Meghan is also an accomplished Irish musician. She has won numerous awards and recognition playing her Irish Whistle and flute, including winning various first-place awards at the Midwest Fleadh Cheoil, which is the Irish music championships, qualifying her to compete at the World Championships in Ireland. Because of Meghan’s extensive Irish dancing career, which spans over 25 years, and along with the tutelage and training she received from world-renowned instructors, she continues to pass on the same standard of excellence, instruction, and compassion she received throughout her years to her students. â€‹

CLASSES

The Meghan Torno School enrolls new students, boys and girls ages 3 and up, throughout the year. From beginner to our seasoned champion dancers, hard work, creativity and fun generate a certain spirit and style that is unique to the Meghan Torno School. We teach solo, ceili (group) and figure dancing, from new beginners to championship levels. The school has dedicated teachers whose goal is to provide the highest quality of teaching and to ensure that students at every skill level reach their full potential. At the Meghan Torno School, it is important to maintain small and personal class sizes in order to provide quality attention to each child. Our instructors dance side-by-side with our students, giving hands-on instruction, and demonstrating proper technique in an encouraging and supportive manner. We recognize that our students have different goals, and we do our very best to help each student attain these goals. Individual and group attention is vital in developing skills in any art form or sport activity. At the Meghan Torno School, students learn discipline and self-confidence, while building camaraderie, social skills, and sportsmanship.
